Ruth Macalpine

Clinical Psychologist

Ruth Macalpine is a Clinical Psychologist holding registration since 2009.  She has worked in private practice since 2013 and with Mind on Health since 2015.  Ruth is experienced with a wide range of presentations and cultural backgrounds.  She works collaboratively with clients to work towards their goals and gain increased self-understanding, well-being and resilience.  Ruth is warm and friendly and known for her ability to quickly build rapport with her clients.

Committed to providing evidence-based treatment primarily to adults of any age, Ruth specialises in (but is not limited to):

  • Anxiety & anxiety disorders
  • Depression (especially chronic depression)
  • Survivors of childhood abuse
  • PTSD and complex trauma
  • Dissociative Disorders
  • Personality Disorders
  • Phobias (Ruth provides specialised treatment for blood and/or needle phobia)
  • Emotion regulation difficulties
  • Stress management

She provides the following empirically-supported treatment modalities:  Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
