PJ Finch

Psychologist

PJ is a registered psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and adults, supporting a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and psychological concerns. He brings a practical, down-to-earth approach to therapy, creating a space where clients feel understood, supported, and comfortable to work through challenges at their own pace.

With over two decades of professional experience across psychology, business, and high-performance coaching, PJ offers a unique perspective in helping people navigate both personal and professional pressures. His background has built a strong foundation in communication, mentoring, and helping people achieve meaningful goals.

PJ draws on evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, neuroaffirming practice, and trauma-informed approaches. He integrates practical strategies, psychoeducation, and collaborative goal setting to help clients better understand themselves and create lasting, meaningful change.

He has experience working with presentations including anxiety, depression, ADHD, ASD, OCD, PTSD, emotional regulation difficulties, adjustment challenges, learning difficulties, and relationship stress. He also works closely with WorkCover, NDIS, and private clients, supporting individuals across different life stages and circumstances.

PJ has a particular interest in sports and performance psychology, helping athletes, young people, and professionals manage pressure, build resilience, and improve confidence in high-performance environments. As an academy football coach, he has spent years supporting young athletes in developing not only technical skills but also emotional regulation, resilience under pressure, teamwork, confidence, and a performance mindset.

This coaching experience strongly shapes his therapeutic style, particularly when working with adolescents, neurodiverse clients, and those who prefer a more relatable, practical approach to therapy.

PJ is particularly passionate about supporting neurodiverse individuals and helping clients make sense of complex emotional experiences using clear, real-life analogies and collaborative problem-solving. He believes therapy works best when it feels genuine, relevant, and tailored to the individual.

At Mind on Health, PJ supports clients across the Northern Gold Coast and surrounding areas through both in-clinic and telehealth psychology services. He works collaboratively with each client to create personalised treatment plans aligned with their goals, values, and everyday life. His focus is on helping people build insight, confidence, and practical skills they can carry forward long after therapy ends.
